Update on our move

Moving day for me and the kids is in 5 days...this all came so fast!! We have a few more answers about how this all will happen now, so I thought I would fill everyone in. I will leave Moscow with the kids on Wednesday and go to Dallas as planned. Taylor will still go to Minnesota for Christmas on the 20th and we will spend Christmas in Texas. Burke and I should still be going to Whistler over New Years. We got a phone call last night that they may need Burke in NY as soon as possible for some work, and if that client needs work done by the end of the year, we may not be able to go, we will see though. Nothing has been decided. Welcome to the life of a wife of New York Partner! No more of Burke being home by 6, eating dinner together as a family, and help with baths and bedtime. That, of course, has been very unrealistic, and we never had that in Dallas. We only had it here because of the lack of work.

After Christmas and New Years, we have decided that Taylor will stay in Minnesota with her dad for the remainder of the school year. There are too many unknowns at this point regarding where we will live, when we will be able to move in somewhere, school districts, and when our furniture will make it over from Moscow. We thought about having a private tutor for her if it would only be for a month or so, but it looks like it will probably be longer than that, so it will be best if she can get into a school sooner than later. Because of that, I will be going to Minnesota for about a week in January with Merrick. We will probably be there on the 9th or 10th. After our Minnesota trip we will return to Dallas and then pack up and meet Burke in New York, where we will live in the city for a while until we find a house somewhere.

In the meantime, Burke will return to Moscow on Jan 7th as planned and meet the movers sometime between Jan 10th and 20th. We have to be out of our Moscow apartment by Jan 20th, so no matter what, Burke will be back to the states by then. Phillip will return to Moscow with Burke at the same time, and will hopefully be able to visit us for Spring Break, but definitely summer. It is very exciting for me that Burke will get to deal with the move back to Moscow. I am a little worried about the things that will show up in New York in our shipment, but I am letting that worry go. This move back to the states is going to be MUCH less stressful than the move here (at least for me, therefore for the kids as well!) My next big hurdle will be travelling to Dallas through Frankfurt on Wednesday with two kids, a stroller, a car seat, 6 suitcases, and carry-ons! Wish me luck!
