OK, so I am a little embarrassed to admit that we just took Taylor to Red Square for the first time this past weekend. However, in my defense, it has been cloudy, rainy and cold every single weekend since mid August, so we haven't had much of an opportunity. Well the sun finally decided to show itself on Sunday, and the temperature was finally over 50 degrees (which, I know, it is going to get much worse soon). To add to our excitement for the day, we all took the Metro to Red Square. It was Taylor and Merrick's first trip on the Metro, and we had a really good time. People in general are really rude here if they don't know you...but there are a few rules of courtesy that seem to be always followed. One is that if you are not planning on walking down or up an escalator, you always stand on the right to let people walk by you on the left. The other is if an elderly person or someone with a child enter the Metro, you give up your seat if you are able to stand for the journey. There are many hard things here to deal with when you have a small child, but man was it nice to have people (yes, people, not just one person) try to give up their seat for me to sit with Merrick on the Metro!
On Sunday after Red Square, we also tried something that is very hard here...to go to dinner with children. We picked a child friendly restaurant with french fries, cheeseburgers, tortillas for wraps, and all sorts of fun American food. Merrick actually sat through an entire meal on the seat of the booth and behaved himself. Not once did he try to get out of the booth and run away from us, or scream because he didn't want to eat. Burke and I were insanely excited, and we actually wouldn't comment on it until close to when dinner was over in fear of jinxing it!
I have also finally updated our Shutterfly site where anyone can order any pictures that we have added to the site. It is
