Well, we still have not found an apartment yet. We looked at two apartments, and an International compound that has townhouses, called Rosinka. There is a waiting list to get into it, so we have been added to the list, and may get in within a month or two. In the meantime, we will continue to look at apartments to see if there is anything else we like more.
The website for Rosinka is: http://www.rosinka.ru/eng/about.html
It would be a perfect place for us to live. There is a community center with a pool, work out room, kids play areas, bowling alleys, restaurants, private lake with a beach and grill, tennis courts, and more. The British school is on the territory, so Merrick could go to preschool there! Taylor's school is about 20 minutes away, but there is a shuttle that takes kids from Rosinka to the Anglo American school, so she would be able to take that rather than a driver. I am keeping my fingers crossed on this one!!! Oh, and continuing in my laundry sagas, the townhouses in Rosinka have full size washers AND dryers, and full size refrigerators and freezers!!! AHHH, the things we take for granted in America.
One more random thought, I am not sure how many preservatives they put in our bread in America to make them last so long, and it kind of scares me a little. We have to go to the store to buy a fresh loaf of bread every couple days. There is no such thing as a pre-sliced loaf of bread like we have in America. Meat is also hard to find. I need to ask a Russian where the best place to buy meat is. We made some beef the other night, and had to throw it all out because it was so tough it was hardly edible. Thank goodness for the peanut butter I stashed in my luggage. I would be going hungry if it weren't for that. Merrick luckily is starting to learn that he just needs to eat what is on his plate, meat and vegetables included. Food is not convenient here. In order to eat, we have to prepare a full meal. I tried to buy a frozen lasagna...not a good idea, that ended up in the trash too!!
Until next time!

Wow - it's a completely different world! How crazy! I love that you are blogging about it all so that one day you can look back and laugh at how you came to learn about the differences. In the meantime, it's a great laugh for me! Miss you!!!
Good luck on the townhome...hopefully you'll get something there! Look on the bright side about the food...fresh bread is so much better tasting anyway! I had no idea meat would be so hard to find...hopefully you'll get some good tips on where to shop soon! Kelly wore her Moscow t-shirt to bed last night and talked about "Mere-Mere"...we miss you guys!
